Fall in the forest

I recently visited my old home town’s forest preserve to take some fall pictures.   There was a cold snap last Friday with high winds and most of the trees were denuded, but there were still a few leaves on the trees, and a blizzard of them on the forest floor.  Oddly enough, as devoid of people as these pictures are, the forest was surprisingly busy.  There was about 6 mountain bikers on the trails and a person with a leaf blower clearing the trails.

The creek looked really beautiful, too.

It was a lovely afternoon for a walk in the woods. I’m so glad I was able to make it out there with my camera.  That was probably one of the last really nice days we will have this season.
