An artful Thanksgiving

I’ve begun to take my art journals wherever I go, and particularly when I go to visit family at the holidays.  I’m not much for the same small talk over and over again at every family gathering, and sometimes it’s just too much and I get overstimulated, so I usually just let other people talk and pull out my art journals and draw.   I can still listen and comment occasionally, but making art while doing so gives me a sense of peace.

These aren’t original works, but copied from other artists/art journalists, just to give me the chance to practice.  I hope some day to get good enough to sketch my own from real life or my imagination, but for now, I borrow all the ideas I can.

Sometimes though, I really impress the heck out of myself.  It’s not perfect work, but I’m definitely seeing an improvement over previous attempts to draw things.
